Prototype of the Dreame Nebula 01X Electric SUV Interior Revealed in China (2026)

The Dreame Nebula 01X electric SUV prototype has been unveiled in China, offering a glimpse into the future of automotive design and technology. While the exterior styling was fully revealed at the 2026 Appliance & Electronics World Expo (AWE), the interior details were only recently shared by Han Lu, a Weibo automotive influencer with over 9 million subscribers. This prototype showcases a unique design with frameless doors and a four-seat layout, but it also raises questions about its practicality and production readiness.

One of the most striking features of the Nebula 01X is its lack of B-pillars. This design choice is not uncommon in Chinese cars, such as the Zeekr Mix minivan, which utilizes hidden B-pillars integrated into the doors, door sills, and roof structure. However, the Dreame Next 01X crossover doesn't have a similar structure, opting for power rear-hinged rear doors with door locks positioned in the door sills. This design choice results in poor sealing, which could lead to wind and water ingress into the cabin. Personally, I find this design choice particularly interesting, as it highlights the trade-offs between aesthetics and functionality in automotive design.

Inside, the Next 01X prototype adopts four seats with two independent captain chairs with integrated headrests in the rear. Each seat is electrically powered, and there is a center tunnel between the rear seats with an integrated touchscreen. The center console of the Next 01X adopts a floating screen, a three-spoke steering wheel, and a thin LCD instrument cluster. The gear shifter sits on the steering column. What makes this particularly fascinating is the contrast between the raw prototype and the mass-produced variant, which will offer BEV and EREV powertrain variants. This highlights the challenges of transitioning from concept to production in the automotive industry.

The Nebula Next 01X fastback crossover adopts the Starry Sky "intelligent" chassis with electromagnetic suspension, which reportedly improves cornering stability by 25% and increases grip on wet surfaces by 30%. It will reportedly have a solid-state battery with cells boasting an energy density of 450 Wh/kg. The all-electric Next 01X will have four e-motors for 1,399 kW (1,876 hp), capable of a zero-to-hundred acceleration time of 1.8 seconds. This raises a deeper question about the balance between performance and sustainability in the automotive industry. In my opinion, the focus on high-performance electric vehicles may come at the expense of more sustainable design choices.

The Dreame Nebula 01X prototype is a fascinating glimpse into the future of automotive design and technology. However, it also raises questions about the practicality and production readiness of its design choices. As an expert commentator, I believe that the automotive industry must strike a balance between innovation and sustainability to ensure a successful transition to a more electric future. The claims and technological base of this company should be viewed objectively and supported by evidence, as the credibility of the company is still being solidified.
